- Begin by asking for help, and lead quickly to a specific, manageable request.
- Make it clear you are not asking about an internship or a job, this time. Leave that for the polite follow-up.
- In a brief, 15-30 minute interview, ask about topics such as a typical day in the role, what makes a resume stand out in the field you are considering, or what future trends are.
- Conclude the interview with what actions it has convinced you to take, and calendar to stay in touch regularly.
